Dental emergencies happen, and at Georgian Shores Dental Centre, our dental centre is here to help you deal with them. Here are a few common dental emergencies we see regularly at our dental centre, as well as how you should deal with them if they ever happen to you or one of your children.
• One of Your Teeth Cracks- If one of your teeth cracks, immediately rinse out your mouth with warm water so that the area stays clean. Then, apply a cold compress to your face so you’re able to keep any swelling down. Once you’ve taken both of these steps, come into our dental centre to see a dentist as soon as possible.
• A Tooth Gets Knocked Out- If one of your teeth gets knocked out, try to keep the tooth moist at all times. If you can, try placing the tooth back in its original spot without touching the root. If this isn’t possible, try putting the tooth in some milk or placing the displaced tooth in between your cheek and gums. Then, get to our office to see a dentist right away.
• A Toothache Causes Pain- If one of your teeth is bothering you, rinse out your mouth with warm water and try flossing around the area to remove any food that might have become stuck in your teeth. While it may be helpful to take an over-the-counter pain reliever, do not place aspirin directly on your gums, as this could burn them. If the pain persists, come in and see a dentist at our office.
