Unlike traditional silver fillings, bonded fillings are made out of a mixture of composite resin that can be colour-matched to the shade of your natural teeth. This makes bonded fillings less noticeable and more aesthetically pleasing.
If you need a filling, your dentist will start by preparing your tooth by removing the decayed or damaged portion. Then, they will apply a solution to the prepared tooth surface, creating a rough surface texture that helps the composite resin bond to the tooth. After this, a bonding agent will be applied to the surface of your tooth, and then your dentist will add the composite resin material. Finally, your dentist will shape and sculpt the filling to achieve the desired appearance and shape.
