Keep reading to learn more about what dental veneers are and how they work.
- What are porcelain veneers? To put it simply, porcelain veneers are shells or covers designed to go over the front surface of your teeth to alter their appearance, making them look more consistent in size, lighter in colour, etc. The shells are made of tooth-coloured porcelain and are custom-fitted to go precisely over each tooth. If you’ve ever wondered how so many celebrities have perfectly straight, white teeth, allow us to explain—it’s not all down to lucky genetics; most celebrities use veneers to achieve this effect.
- How are porcelain veneers applied? When you come to our team to get porcelain veneers, we will first take detailed scans and impressions of your teeth so we can use this information to create the veneers to fit your mouth. Then, we’ll numb your mouth and file down your teeth to create a profile the veneers can bond to. Our team will install temporary veneers over your teeth to tide you over while we create your custom porcelain veneers. Then, when your custom veneers are ready, we’ll have you come back for a second appointment where we can remove the temporary ones and permanently bond the custom veneers to your teeth.
